5Best Running shoe Ever.  Mar 24, 2007 By E. Chance
I went through every brand of running shoes . I am tall and have a large frame and I tend to go through running shoes rather quickly. When I discovered Brooks about 4 years ago it was Heaven sent. Yes these shoes are expensive compared to others but you get your moneys' worth and hey spend money are your feet! We abuse them everyday. They suppport my whole foot and I have not lost any toenails as with others. I now run for fitness and not races. These shoes last me about 6 months. So if you are in searching mode I HIGHLY recommend these shoes.

5Brooks Men's Beast Running Shoe,Silver/Trnish/Wht/Rd,11.5 M  Apr 02, 2007 By J. R. Leffler
For the last several years I have been purchasing the New Balance 2000 and 2001 running shoe. I do not do really any running at all, but the comfort of those shoes really help with my ankle problems. I decided to try the Brooks Beast to get away from the high price of the New Balance 2001. I have defiantly got my money's worth in the comfort of the brooks shoe.

4Brooks Beast  Aug 29, 2008 By S. C. Dominguez
This is a great shoe. I have some seriously flat feet, and until I got these shoes running was absolutely impossible. I'd go about 1/4 mile before I'd start getting horrendous pains all over my feet and shins. Once I slipped into these, I noticed an immediate difference even just walking around. For once in my life: No pain! I wear them every chance I get, and running is easy now.

There are a few problems though that should be mentioned. First, the base is so wide that running over uneven terrain (like stepping up onto or down from street curbs) can be difficult. This shoe has caused me to sprain my ankle badly twice. Part of the reason is because it is so stiff that if you land on an edge of the sole with enough force to roll onto the side, it will roll HARD and fast. This is not a problem on smooth dry surfaces, but be extra careful on wet surfaces, stairs or grass. Absolutely do not play basketball, football or any kind of sport that involves jumping or lateral movement in this shoe. Like I said if you hit an edge, you are gonna be in serious pain and have a purple swollen foot.

It is made in China, but it is very durable. Both my pairs have lasted over a year and have probably 600-700 miles between them.

Update (3/26/2009)
I was running the Brooks Beast for awhile, but I switched to a better shoe. If you like the Beast, try the New Balance MR1123. It doesn't have the edge-strike=ankle-roll issue I described above, it's noticeably more cushioned and it's made in the USA. Unfortunately, the MR1123 is also more expensive. The Beast is a good shoe, but the New Balance will change your religion. It made a believer out of me.

5Great shoe for big over-pronators  May 07, 2007 By Brad
I love this shoe becuase its wide and very supportive. I ran with the orignal Beast which was good but heavy and over the years the've take some of the bulk out and it feels as light as any other shoe. Unbelievable price too!
