Excellent Quality Jan 07, 2008
By Rita K. Farro My first treadmill was the typical cheapo from a discount store. It quit working. This time, I did some research because I was now willing to spend some money. Horizon won, hands down. And I chose the T-82 because it had a bigger motor. It weighs nearly 200 pounds, so getting it in the house and then putting it together was a challenge. But the directions were concise and each assembly step had it's own hardware bag.
I love it, love it, love it. It is extremely smooth and quiet. It is very substantial -- and the cushioning system makes walking easy on the knees.
The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is the programs. They are both too much and too little. For example, during my workout, I am often interrupted by people and phone calls...and even if I leave the key on -- after less than a minute -- all my numbers disappear.

Very good! Feb 19, 2008
By M. Flynn I was very happy for this treadmill especially for the price! It's not loud and easy on my knees (so far). Fairly easy to put together as well - just HEAVY to carry down stairs!

T82 treadmill Amazon wont let me change the star rating to one - don't buy this unit May 15, 2008

I just bought this treadmill and overall I do like it. Its comfortable, easy to use and is very quiet. Ultimatley those (and longevity which I can't really evaluate yet) are the most important factors to me.
I do, however, find the console clumsy. The speaker is attrocious and I can't use the audio jack as I get hiss through my headphones. The display does have the standard useful infomation: time, distance, calories burned (though there is no setting for weight or age which would give this an accurate reading). The display also does not toggle between time and distance automatically. All in all my complaints revolve around things that are of limited value to me personally, but those wishing for a treadmill with all the fancy bells and whistles should look elsewhere.
So I have to update here. The unit has been repaired twice. The companies used by Horizon have been suspect or hit or miss. Many of the internal parts have been replaced and I suspect the problem is not fixed.
The snotty help desk person suggested the following:
plug the six foot power cord directly into its own circuit - totally impractical in virtually any situation.
or
use the machine less - for a refund I would surely oblige.
The machine has been out of service for an entire month of the six months I have owned it.
When I asked for express shipment of a part (which ended up taking nearly 2 weeks to receive and install) they wanted me to pay for it. When I suggested they reset the warranty (as they have replaced multiple parts - and the unit has been out of service for 15% of the time I have owned it) they refused.
The unit currently is working but it has the same distinct burning smell that preceeded both previous failures - my sense is another failure is not far off.
These guys deserve to go out of business. I suspect with low-grade products and slip shod service they are not far from that...
I will not weep for them...

Still good after almost one year Sep 19, 2008

We are only using the treadmill during the cold season because we have many opportunities to stay active when it's warm outside but, from October through May, we do 'something' physical in the basement. This was our second treadmill and it's been a good buy so far. We used it last winter and spring and we are looking forward to start a new season of treadmilling this coming fall.
Features that I liked include:
- powerful, quiet motor
- comfortable walk-run surface for both width and length
- reasonably good pre-programmed workouts
- relatively easy to maintain
- good support (not from India)
But, of course, there is always room for improvement:
- the computer and the display are quite antiquated, not enough information is displayed at once and you have to cycle through display modes to see what you want
- the customized routines are quite inflexible and difficult to program
- the handle-based pulse monitor doesn't always work or it sometimes takes it too long to pick up your heart rate
- the cup holders: not practical, a gimmick
- the headphones plug: never felt like trying it, not practical
- the side screws you need to unscrew in order to dust off the motor look not so solid. They feel as if I'm going to have some trouble screwing them back after a dozen or so maintenance runs
Overall impression - solid, maintenance-light, a pleasure to use, a couple of annoying quirks don't spoil the fun and only manage to make me remove one star.

HF T82 Treadmill Aug 04, 2008
By M. Evans A quality treadmill at a good price. The pre-programmed settings are great, plus it has 2 custom programs so my husband and I can each have our own favorite workout ready to go. And, it wasn't even that hard to assemble!
