K2 Athena Women's Fitness Skate

Considered the company's "house blend" by the good folks at K2, the Athena 2.1 women's fitness skate is built around K2's proprietary Softboot--a proven combination of comfort and control. The Softboot offers such features as standard ankle lacing, a stability cuff, and an Exo composite frame, which combine to offer serious support for new and experienced skaters alike. Each skate also includes a power strap that wraps around the ankle along with an adjustable buckle, adding to the snugness of the fit. And thanks to the 78 mm wheels and ABEC 5 bearings, skaters are assured of a smooth, controlled ride every time they hit the pavement. The skates, which come in a variety of sizes (4.0 to 11.0), are backed by a one-year warranty.

In February of 1961 the first pair of fiberglass skis was produced by brothers Bill and Don Kirschner in their Vashon Island, Washington shop. The Kirscners, avid skiers, built fiberglass animal cages for medical use and were convinced that their process could build a ski that was lighter, stronger, and more lively than the wood and metal skis of the day. They really just wanted to build some cool skis for themselves and their friends. And the rest, as they say, is history.
