For a walking companion no matter where in the world you go, the LEKI Passport is an interesting addition to the LEKI line. The "cane" style Cor-Tec handle design and anti-shock system takes some of the pressure off your joints from strolling or hiking. It adjusts for your height from 71 to 130 cm. Weighing in at 10.7 oz., it's relatively lightweight. With an integrated photo mount and easy lock system, it can function as a monopod for a camera, telescope or pair of binoculars. The LEKI Passport has interchangeable rubber tips or a permanent carbide flextips, depending on the terrain you intend to tackle. The functional National Geographic details have conversion tables on them for your international trips. Like all LEKI poles, the shaft is guaranteed for a lifetime against breakage.

2Great of a show piece  Nov 20, 2009
This was not a good purchase, a waste of money. I have a Leki walking stick that I love but this walking stick as not up to the quality that I expected. It had trouble locking in place and would let you down at the worst times.

3Serves its purpose, but could be better  Feb 25, 2009
Serves its purpose, but could be better: I would rather have seen more attention to quality and primary function, and skip the gratuitous writing all over it. I mean, making it longer for stand-up monopod takes several turns, then its hard to know where to put it back to when you want to return to using it as a cane (and the same several turns). Instead of the writing on the side, perhaps a wallet size card... Reminder: its not quite tall enough to keep from having to bend your legs when using it as a monopod if you are normal adult height. And the handle takes some getting used to (I still dont like it, although I've adapted).

1The pole is good but...  Jul 14, 2008
The pole works just fine. However, the NG info on the pole is unreadable due to the delamination of the data onto the shaft. I didn't buy the pole for the foot to meters conversion but the workmanship on the shaft is just so shoddy you would'nt want to hand it to anyone to "admire". NG should not be associated with such poor workmanship.

5saved my vacation  May 24, 2008
at the last minute before a two week trip to Turkey I decided to buy this stick as I have trouble on uneven ground. Well the whole country is uneven ground! Or so it seemed. Without my Leki, with its great suspension feature, I would not have been able to do even half of the tour's ancient sites and many of the modern ones as handrails are not often available and steps are universal and steep. Some of my tourmates borrowed it from time to time to use the built in monopod and several said they too were buying one for their next trip.

5NG hiking staff rocks!  Jul 04, 2007
I quick shipped this pole to my house, once I realized I couldn't find my pair o' hiking stix. Just used this great tool on a backpack/hike/camp trip to Bruce Peninsula National Park in Ontario, Canada. Not only did it look cool as a gear piece, it did me well on all the terrain we ran across, including the rattler! So, cheers for this product. I plan to use it again, and forego my other hiking stix, on upcoming trip to Isle Royale in Michigan in August.
