Accelerator™ Speed and Distance Watch SeriesHikerGreat for monitoring your daily speed and distance performance on the trail.Looking for a way to gauge your progress in running or exercise walking, but tired of inaccurate and limiting pedometers, battery killing GPS and annoying food pods? For discriminating consumers who crave more than the typical pedometer can offer, Tech 40™ presents the Accelerator watch series. Far more accurate than a typical pedometer that relies on a pendulum to count steps, the Accelerator series incorporates advanced accelerometer technology. The results is a watch that "knows" the difference between short and long strides and records, calculates, and displays all measurements via the wrist watch - no need for a foot pod. 5Great Watch  Apr 11, 2007 By Jill M. Stecher "jillmo16"
You will love this watch if you know how to read instruction manuals. If you cannot read an instruction manual I doubt you will find the watch of much use. Being that I CAN read instruction manuals I am very pleased with this watch. It helps me get my 10,000 steps per day, everyday. I do agree it would be nice if the pedometer didn't time out but it does. I just simply remember to check it often- which has become a habit for me. It sure beats all those clip on pedometers- which aren't very accurate and break easily. I was going tnrough about 1 of those every 6 weeks! I Love my Tech4O watch...now if only they could make them a bit more fashionable!

1Fatal Flaw  Mar 22, 2007 By Lily M.
The product description twice mentions the "doctor recommended" program of walking 10,000 steps per day, which is why I bought this watch/pedometer. But it doesn't accumulate your steps throughout the day. If you sit down for 30 minutes, the pedometer goes into sleep mode and you have to re-start it to continue counting. If you forget after driving or working at your computer, you miss the steps you take, which pretty much blows your program. All the watches in the Accelerator line are virtually identical. They're just packaged differently. Furthermore, if that flaw doesn't bother you, the directions for this watch are impossible to understand. I had to call customer service three times and even they had to ask for help to figure it out. They faxed me a simplified set of directions, but that was only slightly more help.

5I love this watch!  Aug 30, 2007 By S. Amspaugh
I've been wearing this watch now for about 6 months and I love it! Don't think of it as a watch as much as a small computer on your wrist. The instruction manual isn't very user friendly, but the watch is easy to figure out if you just play with it. Bottom right button turns on the pedometer...press top right button to start. Viola! I wear this watch when we go on vacation or hiking to know how exactly many miles we've walked. I also use this to exercise outside...its great for keeping track of your steps, milage, and total exercise time. It can tell if you are walking or running (unlike a pedometer) so this is great for exercising. Highly recommended.

4great gift for moms  Jun 11, 2007 By R. shmyr "sportfan"
my wife has used this watch now for a month AND ABOUT 70 MILES. i got it for her (or i should say our children got it for her) on mother's day. we set out immediately to use it on our walks. after making adjustments with it a few times and setting up the correct sensitivity(hers is 3)it works every time within the written 5% accuracy. in fact we once used it and found that it was about 10% off and thought it was broken, but after rolling up her sweatshirt sleeve, we found it to be within the 5% again. i am not sure whether it times out or not quite frankly since we use it for long walks ..but it is great for someone who wants to know how much they are walking on a daily basis INSIDE AND OUT. i use a gps unit and she has regularly been about 2-3% off ...BUT I CANNOT USE MINE INSIDE WHICH I THINK GIVES THIS AN EDGE : AS WELL THE COST IS GREAT!!

5Great Exercise Tool!  Apr 04, 2007 By Keely Thalp
This watch has made working out easier and more enjoyable. It takes the guesswork out of estimating mileage for running and walking. I find myself going farther than ever. I use it when I walk the dog, walk at work, and run. The watch looked large in the picture, and I was worried about it being too big for a petite wrist, but it was no larger than my other athletic watch. The watch was easy to set up once you understand the map of the features that comes with it. I had to adjust the stride length a couple times, but once I got that down, I was ready to go!
