Great Watch Mar 10, 2008
By Penitent1 Even though there were mixed reviews on this watch, I decided to try it out. I have been very pleased with this watch, and highly recommend it. Some reviewers stated how difficult it was to set up. I did not find this to be true. In fact, it is VERY EASY to set up. If you are used to having a casio or timex watch, you will have to get used to a different "logic" in changing modes, setting time, etc. (Kind of like the difference between the PC and MAC). But after about 5 minutes of playing around, it all made sense. Overall, here are some observations after a few weeks of use:
Pros: This watch does just what it says, and it does it VERY accurately. IF you are looking for a watch that can calculate the number of steps and distance traveled, this watch is for you. This, in my opinion, is also an attractive sports watch. You will find yourself walking and staring at your watch seeing if it counts all of your steps(and it does). I like the backlight light (similar to indiglow) Also the display is crisp, clear and simple.
Cons: As previously mentioned, the packaging is very cheap. If you are giving this as a gift, take it out of the plastic box and wrap it in anything else. The directions look like they were printed by a 5th grader in his basement. The online directions are worse than the printed directions (though you can get a pdf copy of the printed directions for whatever that is worth) There are multiple grammatical errors and typos online. Obviously this online site was developed in China or India, with no native english advisor so it is basically worthless. But in the end, if you are able to order a watch off the internet, you should be able to learn how to use this watch. For me, the only minor issue I had with this watch was that in the Pedo mode, if you show distance, speed or calories, the top display flickers ever so slightly. It would appear to be a refresh rate issue while the Pedo is turned on. While it is off, there is no flicker.
I know my "cons" section seems larger than the "pros" section, but how long does it take to say, this watch is cool, it does what it promises, and it is attractive and unique. I highly recommend it.

Highly technical watch. If you can't set a Timex, don't even bother. Jan 21, 2008

The 2 reviews on this watch are very accurate:
#1: The watch is not for average users. It is VERY technical. Don't just think you can push a few buttons here and think this watch will calculate everything out of the box. That's not going to happen. There are 10 separate settings to be adjusted, and within each of those settings, there are on average 4 more settings in those. Again, you can't just do button mashing here and expect to get ANYTHING out of this watch.
#2: Packaging was like out of a thrift store, or as I compared it, a carnival prize watch. Not impressive at all, but hey, at $40 I wasn't expecting a Macy's gift wrap either.
Overall, the watch while being very difficult to set up, once you have it fine tuned, this thing is pretty darn accurate. Accurate enough, that after a 6 mile run, this beauty reported 6.05 miles. I can live with that extra .05 after 6 miles. Not bad at all. To setup the pedometer, you must calculate your walking and running stride. DO NOT do this on a treadmill. You need to do this at your own pace, not what some machine is telling you to run. Go to a quarter mile track, or anywhere else you have measured. Make 2 laps and average them. Then take the total feet traveled x 12 to get to inches. Take the inches and divide by your steps to get your "stride". Then input that into the watch. Once you do that, you are set. The pedometer can be set for sensitivity and while running, you can scroll through distance, pace, calories, time and exercise time. Very nice.
The watch also has a chrono, timer and 2nd time for your away city of choice (no city choices, just adjust the time).
For $40, I'm pretty amazed at how good this little watch is.
Best value for amateur runners Aug 14, 2011

I have owned this watch for over two years and I am very happy with it. It still works perfectly (and still with the original battery!)
I have been an amateur runner all my life, however I quit from running at certain periods of my life and then retake running when I am in the mood.
I have witnessed that many new runners tend to purchase a lot of equipment before really starting to run and suddenly they realize most of their purchases are not needed. So my advice is that if you want to become an amateur runner, go run before purchasing equipment. You will see that you don't need that many things. And specifically in the case of this watch I can tell you it has everything you really need. No, it doesn't have GPS, but I can tell you don't need that unless you run in the middle of a jungle... ;)
Not water resistant Dec 16, 2008

I like this watch for walking, but when I accidently got it wet, it immediately filled up with water and died.
It says 50m water resistant on the cover.
Very Good Watch Sep 16, 2008
By Nicholas R. I bought this watch for cross country. The shipping was extremely fast. When it arrived I noticed that it was packaged a lot better than the other reviews stated. I started playing around with the watch and was highly impressed with all the features it has. The pedometer setting is very accurate and once the correct running and walking strides are inputed the distance and speed calculater were right on the mark. Over all I'm very impressed on how many functions it has for its very low price.
