Does what it's supposed to Apr 14, 2008

I bought a bighorn 4 for a 2" hitch. I really like the rack. I then bought a car with 1 1/4" hitch. So I purchased this part to adapt the bighorn to this hitch size.
It fit right into the rack and was very easy to install.
The negatives are
1. the new adapter is made with sold metal so it makes the rack heavier.
2. It seems to be small and makes the rack sway more in the hitch than on the 2".
Positives.
1. I like the hitch adapter from 2" to 1 1/4". It seems to stick out less on the back of truck.
2. I can use the same yakima lock screw pin in either the 2" or 1 1/4".
3. pretty easy to switch back and forth. if needed.

It does not say so here or on Backcountry.com or on Yakima's website, but the box clearly states that it is only compatible with the Bighorn 4 part # 02404. If you have an '03 or older Bighorn rack, you are better off getting a converter that changes your 1-1/4" reciever to a 2" one (they can be found for about $35).
